WAIT what’s inside?

I was lucky enough to be passing a new junction and saw this pedestrian crossing button terminal being installed. As you can see, there is not a lot going on in this box anymore but the form factor has been left constant.

In years past I imagine this box was brimming with wires and took hours to set up. I have a 70s telephone which we use as our landline and it is a fine example of tech before the proliferation of microchips. It is in fact quite beautiful – I will make an entry on that now that I have brought it up….

I repeatedly write about pedestrian crossings and I am not sure why. Maybe it is because I notice more when I am at them due to being stationary.
