I’d rather be fighting Chavs

The best fitness promo (on the street) i have seen was a group of girls in fitness clothes looking well, er, fit and healthy – what made it memorable was not their beauty it was their attitude. They were running up to passers by giving them a leaflet then bounding off like they were in a relay race. It was funny, eyecatching and above all, their message was clear.

This picture was taken on Holborn road on feb 4th 2010, there were two people in matching jackets walking alongside a large prosthetic carnival head thing. The collective were trying to promote gym membership. Sadly I think their message, unlike the bounding girls was lost deep – nothing said ‘fitness’ to me.

I did not take a picture of the carnival head, nor get a copy of the flyer but took this shot – I may get another chance though as I’ve seen the flyer team again – I guess the marketing team thinks this campaign works. I just wish they had some imagination beyond shock and comedy – fitness is a serious thing y’know….
