Google is growing inside you

Google are prepping a major update to Google Chrome, the key change is that it coincides with the launch of their HTML web-app stores.

er. Wow. I hear you say.

Well it just illustrates the cool calculating way of the Google. Google TV is attacking the living room, Google Android has won the top OS spot in mobile phones and the support for web apps is ubiquitous. Nice. The three screens can collide with shared functionality designed for immediate usage, think Apple iPhone apps but on every device. Its all about consisitent interfaces to the data you use everyday. Its the next era of personalisation.

SO google has been creeping around browsers and phones seemingly in an outward fashion but low and behold, its inwards – they take over the words ‘ search the internet’ [with just google it] then they slide into our pockets with cheaper but more open phone operating systems – next the sofa. They are the symbiant within, the force feeding on your personal searches and emails. Google will consume all.

Will they become us or just burst out in some Giger-eske way?

Whatever happens – it should be ok, Google are not ultimately the bad guys the problem is they have no style. Interface designers should unite and build pretty things for them. A chest burster in a stylish hat… oh, thats been done already, but you get the idea. Designers have a unique opportunity to style their own environment rather than follow Apple. Their stuff looks and feels great but what did YOU have to do with it. Style or be styled.
