I dunno if i am behind the times here but i just discovered that Tron is up for a sequel of sorts. Jeff Bridges is the main protaganist again, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy and the graphics look well erm, rather good. The trailer shows it all .

My initial reaction? Looks like it has lost the warmth of the orginial as the effects are slicker, sleaker but the simplicity and low use of textures remain – AND the classic Syd Mead Light Cycle looks like the original. The soundtrack has noticable Tronness…. and the sound effects… well they sound rather fantastic…  i am getting excited as I type but i feel, yet again, I may be hyping myself up to a hollow modernisation designed around the intended game thats due to be released.

…Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years…

Whatever happens, I love the original, i even fell for the plot I am glad Disney has kept the rights as it should maintain its cleanness (unlike Transformers which chose to make robots swear).

I am looking forward to this new release.  Failing it being a ‘good movie’ the sound effects,  soundtrack and any other homages  will knock old fuds like me over.
