Art with a purpose.

Paint - Want - Need - Get

Paint - Want - Need - Get

“Two nyc artists, Christine and Justin, started painting pictures of things they wanted. Visualizing, them, as it were, on canvas. Then they started selling those paintings for the exact price of that item. And voila, the item manifests.”

I like the fact that the purpose of the art is so obvious. Art is a means to an end for many. It is simply another way of making money. Some people make and sell perfume, televisions, insurance bonds; all things you can live without. Some people sell art – if successful you can get quite rich from either a) your efforts in developing unique techniques that only you can master. b) because you had an idea and you become idolized.

I love these guys as their work has an in your face honesty about its purpose and price. The works are only worth what the artists want in exchange so in a funny sort of way – it is like co-operative art – i got it, you want it, lets swap.

Nice.

Humm, did i just idolize an artist?

Lots more information and stuff in the pace i found the article and nicked the pic from – palimpsest
