This lock is in my friend Pheobe’s house in the middle of Paris, France. It is an odd lock with part of the mechanism on the key itself.
On discovery I was, and am, facinated with this find – It seems odd to put a spring loaded unit on a key let alone have such a complex key, the lock itself is rather simple. In my mind the key is the dumb part of a lock; it needs to be robust enough to survive everyday use and misuse. This key is a machine in it’s own right!
The pictures are clear but: as the key is inserted the user pushes on the key, this compresses the spring exposing a locking bar which provides traction with the lock to enable it to open. See for yourself.
As I get round to finding out more I will ammend the post!
Yes yes I know, how dull. But how odd!
